Excellent copywriting, consulting and training outcomes rely largely on mutual understanding. As a client, you’ll be happier, and I’ll be a better service provider for you, when expectations are clear.
Here’s a big one, to start with:
Because I work with a limited number of clients at a time in order to deliver quality outcomes, I don’t ‘hold space open’ for unconfirmed work. So if I’ve not heard back from you within 72 hours of submitting a proposal, quote or CE for your review, please understand that my availability and the broader timelines may change.
I send the client a proposal, quote or CE to review. This contains explanatory line items, which may include a flat fee for client liaison, interviewing, material review and/or research time. Proposals, quotes or CEs include VAT.
Once the client has reviewed the proposal, quote or CE, they come back to me with questions regarding scope, deliverables, timing, inclusions and/or pricing. One set of reasonable changes for correction to factual, tonal or messaging errors is included in all quotes at no cost, but substantial rewrites may incur additional charges.
Once everyone is happy with the parameters, the client approves the proposal, quote or CE in writing and shares this approval with me, together with a proof of payment for the deposit (usually 50%).
At this stage I can usually confirm a start date and suggest a first-draft delivery date, although this deadline will be subject to receiving all required facts, information, data and/or material from the client.
I undertake not to discuss the content or substance of my clients’ research, documents, meetings or strategy with any third party, except as necessary to produce the scoped work. Clients may request a signed non-disclosure agreement from me. I have a draft ready to go.
Once the work is done, I submit a first draft for the client’s review. There is a 14-day window to request changes in writing and I ask that, when making or requesting copy changes, all clients use Track Changes or highlight their comments, questions or amendments in colour. This way, I can quickly and easily make any revisions.
Final payment for a piece of work is due on delivery of the work, unless otherwise agreed, and not on publication or use. I don’t accept ‘strike’ or ‘kill’ fees. Please be aware that late payments will incur penalty interest at prevailing bank rates and that my copyright applies to all commissioned work until final payment is processed.
Questions? Any time.
I send the client a proposal, quote or CE to review. This contains explanatory line items, including optional extras like pre-/post-training assessments, reporting, certificates and/or follow-up sessions. Proposals, quotes or CEs include VAT.
Training quotes for live sessions usually include a 30-page handbook, a delegate pack, exercises, marking, the full day’s facilitation and email support.
In most cases, quotes exclude pre-/post-training assessments, reporting, material customisation, venue hire and catering, travel and transfers, and accommodation.
Once the client has reviewed the proposal, quote or CE, they come back to me with questions regarding scope, deliverables, timing, inclusions and/or pricing. This is usually a good time to discuss training dates, format and logistics.
Once everyone is happy with the parameters, the client approves the proposal, quote or CE in writing and shares this approval with me, together with a proof of full upfront payment. I require this in order to secure a training date.
All clients may request a signed non-disclosure agreement from me. With or without this in place, I undertake not to discuss the content or substance of my clients’ research, material, documents, submissions, media, meetings or strategy with any third party, except as strictly necessary to provide the training.
There are discounts available for large training groups, high-volume work and multiple training days. It is also possible to have training material fully custom-created to include samples of a team’s own writing or output or to combine multiple courses/topics into one programme.
HOT TIP 😉
It is a good idea to address and handle any vendor onboarding, supplier onboarding or procurement requirements well in advance of booking training.
